Silas' First Easter (4/20/14)<br />
Easter was a little late this year which made for nice weather. I love Easter at our church! The staff and worship team work hard to create a special celebration. It is always a great reminder of the power of the resurrection. After church we went to Nick's mom's house and my family came too. We had a great lunch and then hunted eggs in the front yard. It was a great day!<br />

My 28th Birthday (4/25/14)<br />
I feel like my birthday celebrations went on for more than a week this year. I felt very loved by all those around me...friends, coworkers, community group, family, and Nick. Nick treated me to dinner at Venetian Inn and some shopping money. What a treat! We also went over to the Buffalo River with my family to celebrate my bday. Nick, Lauren, Dad and I floated while mom kept Silas. It was a fun day! <br />

Mother's Day / Silas' Baby Dedication (5/11/14)<br />
Not only was this year my first official Mother's Day, but we also got to dedicate Silas at church. We had a very special day. We committed to raise Silas in a Godly/Christian home. Our family and church family also committed to supporting us in this. I'm so thankful to be Silas' momma. He is a joy and he's made my dreams of being a momma come true! Brad and Sarah were in town this weekend too. It was so fun having the boys together. (I haven't uploaded all the other pics yet...this was the only one on my phone)</div>

I quickly realized how fun that age is. Silas started dancing about this time...so fun. He had 4 thee with two more coming in. </span></div>
<br>
Silas ended up getting tubes put in his ears on 4/29/14. He had his 6th ear infection and the doc said that was enough. The procedure went really well and super fast. Silas did great and bounced right back to normal when we got home. We checked in at 7am and we were leaving by 9am. The doc said his ears were full of "paste" which confirmed out choice for tubes. Hooray for no more ear infections!<br>
<br>
Silas became an official crawler at 9 months too. He had been army crawling and scooting, but he finally got up on all fours.<br>
<br>
He also started pulling up on EVERYTHING right after his tubes. I think his hearing and his balance were dramatically better. He started jabbering instead of just saying dada. <br>
<br>
At 10 months Silas has 6 teeth and weighs about 26lbs. He continues to be BIG for his age. He is SO heavy to carry around. He wears all 18 or 24 month and size 5 diapers. We love our big boy. <div><br></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqhgcRk_rOepMshQwtwmbmwQhJI3HInDP0Rtu_RCr41Sx0Wbcy8RBnrJ02VwiRYrderyvHEJJRqXxcKmVlZS_aRxEzOWwGgPSxGm17bOKWkrSs61A9_WpT4FahebOVNNe72NobQxADhW6H/s640/blogger-image-559526748.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqhgcRk_rOepMshQwtwmbmwQhJI3HInDP0Rtu_RCr41Sx0Wbcy8RBnrJ02VwiRYrderyvHEJJRqXxcKmVlZS_aRxEzOWwGgPSxGm17bOKWkrSs61A9_WpT4FahebOVNNe72NobQxADhW6H/s640/blogger-image-559526748.jpg"></a> </div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1VuR2zmXL7i8y1Wcb_qKEr5YbzIWTMfXi_wdgrHq2eCjwf7tlm8K61qX_D81RizwJpkwW5CVM5QGg3AXyJu5Sqv4u_UuPTljOSRzz1K68rdJCeygOAhSuD6QFZarxiT21udZ0p_oHMS7X/s640/blogger-image-1598256375.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1VuR2zmXL7i8y1Wcb_qKEr5YbzIWTMfXi_wdgrHq2eCjwf7tlm8K61qX_D81RizwJpkwW5CVM5QGg3AXyJu5Sqv4u_UuPTljOSRzz1K68rdJCeygOAhSuD6QFZarxiT21udZ0p_oHMS7X/s640/blogger-image-1598256375.jpg"></a></div><br></div>Caroline and Nickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03976860233281964323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5876724883772939382.post-15986235295572884632014-04-03T07:18:00.001-07:002014-04-03T07:19:18.062-07:00More milestones!<div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Clapping</span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEO6v4FulBXGIWvAQSytPJor62dOsX-FcVehEt-EB9PQMVwAOJfYXKBppUQykF62A-yVXBdgUBbrmxQpcWRO0mVdZpADIyVaTZGUMbuLBAn0e1BaT1bGbt6Zpm30lmDbo3I40IXjQipQyw/s640/blogger-image--416995689.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEO6v4FulBXGIWvAQSytPJor62dOsX-FcVehEt-EB9PQMVwAOJfYXKBppUQykF62A-yVXBdgUBbrmxQpcWRO0mVdZpADIyVaTZGUMbuLBAn0e1BaT1bGbt6Zpm30lmDbo3I40IXjQipQyw/s640/blogger-image--416995689.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Silas started clapping at about 7 months </div><br></div><div>Standing</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn6NDwK50hyERsewr9GpHc9R1-t_3A5AaruBFkF-QE0dH5gt6hjDtm0sv-dCZK3dTaFL_2vSTg1muT5EdjGg0kj6ggeAx2tIU_whYddfE2oVwf27Gj6s8nDrv7GNv9TtAb-m4DboIRwis9/s640/blogger-image-33872233.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn6NDwK50hyERsewr9GpHc9R1-t_3A5AaruBFkF-QE0dH5gt6hjDtm0sv-dCZK3dTaFL_2vSTg1muT5EdjGg0kj6ggeAx2tIU_whYddfE2oVwf27Gj6s8nDrv7GNv9TtAb-m4DboIRwis9/s640/blogger-image-33872233.jpg"></a></div>Just started standing in the last few weeks. I was kind of shocked because no one had mentioned it before. Evidently heart murmurs can develop at any point. I wasn't super worried until I mentioned his poor circulation...then the doc seemed a little concerned. We immediately scheduled an echocardiogram at the children's hospital clinic in Lowell. Thankfully they got us in within a few days. We spent those days praying for good results. </span></div><div><br></div><div>The procedure itself went okay. We had to feed Silas two bottles to keep him still and content. <div><br></div><div>We were so so thankful to get immediate results. I really can't remember too many specifics and what happened when. Sooo...I would love to become more consistent at documenting our little guy's life. </span><br />
<br />
Silas turned 5 months on December 9th. It was a busy month, but it started out with a week of snow days! Nick didn't want having a baby to keep us at home on the first big snow day. Being the awesome parents that we are we just took him out with us. We took turns sledding with friends and one of us would sit in the car with him. Yes- we are crazy!<br />
<br />
We ended the month with Christmas break and Silas' first Christmas. We went to Texarkana this year and it will probably be the last year for travel. Silas was congested and traveling with a baby is just challenging. <br />
<br />
I do know that Silas got his first tooth on December 30th (Pappy's bday). This is also the day he sat up by himself for the first time. His 2nd tooth followed a few days later. Teething is a way bigger deal than I realized. LOTS of drool. LOTS of tears. <br />
<br />
The month flew by and before we knew it Silas was 6 months old. I feel like 6 months is really when we turned a corner. I think Silas loves being able to sit up and play with his toys. He laughs so much more and we have lots of happy moments. He is so fun to watch learn and grow. He still has his difficult moments, but we just roll with it. <br />
<br />
Here are a few stats I did jot down on my phone a while back....<br />
Eats 5 times a day 32oz total @ 7,10,1,4,7<br />
Sleeps from 7pm to 7am MOST of the time<br />
No nap schedule because he doesn't nap well...usually 3-4 short naps <br />
East baby food at dinner - loves all veggies except carrots...started fruit at about 7 months<br />
Holds his own bottle 100% of the time now<br />
Rolls over and sits up<br />
20lbs at 6months<br />
wearing 6-12 month clothes<br />
just moved to size 4 diaper<br />
2 ear infections so far...(now has had 4 @ 8 months)<br />
Silas LOVES his jumparoo, giggling at daddy, and Mallie<br />
<br />
Here are some pics from 5-6 months:<br />

Caroline and Nickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03976860233281964323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5876724883772939382.post-63486614344839458112014-01-24T08:38:00.001-08:002014-01-24T08:38:32.606-08:00Months 3 and 4Everyone told us that when Silas turned 3 months old we would turn a corner and he wouldn't be so difficult. Well....we didn't find that to be true. He would make a liar out of us and be totally chill when we were out and about or with friends and family, but he was still fussy a lot of the time. It went from stomach issues to napping/sleeping issues. Not being able to soothe and calm your baby is possible the most frustrating thing ever. However, during these months Silas became so much more fun when he wasn't fussing. He started smiling and talking a lot more. He started interacting more and playing with his toys. He was introduced to his favorite thing ever...his jumparoo! <br />
<br />
Silas continued to grow in these months too. He was 18lbs at his 4 month check up! I think he was 26 inches too. He LOVES to eat and gets excited/anxious/impatient when he knows you're making a bottle. The wheels come off when he sees it. ha! At 3 and 4 months he was still eating about 6 times a day. He was sleeping through the night most nights, but it was right at Thanksgiving when we let him start crying it out...I think right after his 4 month check up. Silas always cries when we lay him down to sleep, but we quit getting up with him in the middle of the night at 4 months. It took 4-5 nights and he started sleeping through the night. PTL! <br />
<br />
We also took our first road trip during this time. We surprised my brother for his 30th bday and spent the weekend with him and his fam in Austin. This was such a sweet trip. Not only to I get to spend time with Brad and Sarah, but I got to meet my precious nephew, Liam. He and Silas are two months apart in age. We had a short but sweet trip. <br />

I hadn't even heard of Torticollis until after I had Silas - from a friend that is a physical therapist. When he was almost two months old I had her take a look at his neck. She thought there might be some tightness so we asked about it at our 2 month well check. The doc immediately referred us for a PT eval after seeing Silas. <br />
<br />
Torticollis:<br />
Congenital torticollis is most often due to tightness in the muscle that connects the breastbone and the collarbone to the skull. (It's called the sternocleidomastoid muscle). This is called congenital muscular torticollis. This tightness might have developed because of the way your baby was positioned in the uterus (with the head tilted to one side) or because the muscles were damaged during delivery.<br />
Babies with torticollis may also develop <a href="http://www.babycenter.com/0_plagiocephaly-flat-head-syndrome_1187981.bc">positional plagiocephaly</a> (asymmetrical head shape) because they'll often sleep with their head turned to the side.<br />
<br />
Basically Silas would always lean his head to the right and look to the left. We started PT a two months and just finished (at 6 months). We loved our PT, Lana. She did a great job working with Silas and teaching me how to help to. Basically lots of tummy time and stretching. Silas' is finally doing better and you can't even tell anymore. His head has rounded out too. :) <br />
<br />
You can really see it in these pictures. We are thankful for good medical care and that we saw results almost immediately after starting PT. <br />

When the PT evaluated Silas she noticed some developmental delays as well. She felt that Silas wasn't progressing developmentally because of the torticollis and his fussiness. It was a huge blessing to get him caught up developmentally as we were working on his physical issues too. </div>
Caroline and Nickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03976860233281964323noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5876724883772939382.post-35376440788699762602014-01-22T19:00:00.000-08:002014-01-24T08:27:21.188-08:00Months 1 and 2Month 1 seems like a blur now that we are getting used to a new normal. We came home from the hospital and started learning how to parent this new baby boy. He was so little and lost 9% of his birth weight. We had our work cut out for his as we had to feed him every 2 hours (including waking up at night). Finally, at his 2 week check he was back up to birth weight plus some. I can't remember all the specifics, but I do know at 5 weeks he was 9.2lbs and 23 inches. He went from losing weight to gaining almost 2ozs a day. It was also about this time that he graduated into size 1 diapers. :) <br />
<br />
Silas has been a cranky baby since about week two. There was a long stretch of time where if he wasn't sleeping or eating he was pretty fussy. I really wanted to know if we had a fussy baby or if there was something wrong with Silas that we could help. He would curl his legs up, arch his back and scream. We tried lots of solutions.... Zantac didn't work, cutting out dairy seemed to help a little bit, infant probiotics did seem to help his belly, but nothing completely cured him. Thankfully around 6 weeks he started smiling and those smiles always encourage me. <br />
<br />
I went back to work right as he turned 6 weeks old. It was overwhelming, but I'm so thankful I get to bring him with me to work. He started daycare 2day/week when he was 10 weeks old. It's hard dropping him off and trusting others to care for him, but it also creates a good balance for my work schedule. <br />
<br />
At his 2 month check up he got all his shots and handled them like a champ. He weighed 13.2lbs and was 24 inches long. It was also around 2 months when he started sleeping for longer stretches at night. He isn't super consistent, but he usually sleeps form 10pm-5am. Sometimes we get up for a feeding at 3 and then he'll sleep until 7:30. We LOVE The nights when he makes it from 10-6 or later. :) We also switched to size 2 diapers at about 2 months. <br />
<br />
Silas continues to fill our hearts with love and joy. I love watching him grow and develop. His smiles and coos/grunts are the best! <br />

It was a wild series of events leading up to his birth. I found out at 36.5 weeks pregnant that I had high blood pressure. After additional tests my doc called on Friday July 5th to inform me I needed to be induced. I was 37 weeks on the 5th and the risks of having high BP outweighed the risks of having Silas early. We checked into the hospital on July 7th at 5pm to start cervadil. The morning of the 8th we started Pitocin. After almost 12 hours on Pitocin I was still at a 2. I was almost at the max dosage (34 units/hr) when I decided to get an epidural. That is when things started moving in the right direction. I felt good and my body was finally responding to the meds. At 1:30 my BP alarm went off because the printer was out of paper. The RN checked me while she was in there and surprisingly I was ready to push. I started pushing at 1:40 and Silas was delivered at 2:14am on 7/9/13. It was the coolest experience. I always thought I would be terrified to actually birth a baby. However, when the time came I was so excited and ready to meet him. He was a little guy weighing it at 6lbs 6oz. He had some breathing issues at first, but rebounded quickly. We spent some time with him and then let family in to meet him. They had all just gone home to go to bed only to get a call to come back up to the hospital. We really didn't think he would arrive until the next day. :) We were able to get a few hours of sleep before going to see him in the nursery the next morning. The day was filled with lots of cuddles and lots of visitors. <br />
<br />
We had to stay in the hospital a few days. My blood pressure was high and Silas had low blood sugar because he was feeding great. We ended up going home on Thursday and then checking back in on Friday. Silas was jaundice and had to do light therapy. We were finally home for good on Saturday. We were so thankful to be home and healthy. <br />

(written in Feb or March of 2013)That's right! Nick and I are about 20 weeks away from becoming parents. It is hard to explain the mixture of emotions and feelings we are experiencing right now. It has always been my dream to be a mom and I couldn't be more excited for my dream to come true. Nick on the other hand is excited and anxious about becoming a dad. We're both beginning to realize how different life will be with a baby. So we're going to spend the next few months preparing for this little one and enjoying our freedom and sleep. :) <br />
<br />
We just found out we're having a baby boy! We both thought it was a girl so when we found out it was a boy we were a little surprised. However, we both love the idea of our oldest child being a boy. I felt the baby kick for the first time yesterday (3/5/13). We have our 20 week diagnostic ultrasound on Friday. I've had LOTS of ultrasounds at work and 1 at the my doctor's office. It is AMAZING to see our little boy bouncing around and seeing his little heartbeat. I'm not really anxious about the diagnostic ultrasound, but I'm ready to make sure our baby boy is healthy. <br />
<br />
The first few months of this pregnancy were exhausting...I felt tired and sick most of the time. I'm finally feeling better (still tired) but not near as nauseous. It feels good to have 1/2 of this pregnancy behind us! We've felt so loved and supported by our family and friends every step of the way. We're so thankful for the prayers, food/meals, and gifts from all these special people. It is safe to say this baby is LOVED! Nick and I don't have tickets, but we did tailgate with the Cashion's and the Rainwater's...thanks guys! It was so fun to see the Bell's and the Rainwater's. We had fun catching up and getting ready to cheer on the Hogs! <br />

We made a quick trip to celebrate sweet Jennifer! She is getting married in October and we had to get one last celebration in with the girls before the big day. Rachel, Kenlie, and Jennifer picked me up on Friday at 4:00 and we headed for Springfield to pick up Mel. Erin (Jen's sister) was lucky enough to fly and meet us there. We missed you Amy! <div><br />
</div><div> Rachel drove us the entire way there, all through Chicago, and all the way home....ROCKSTAR! We got there late Friday night. It was SO fun to see everyone and we spent some time catching up that night even though it was late. We piled up in Mikki's awesome apt. and Sean came home to cook us breakfast Saturday morning. </div><div><br />
</div><div>We spent Saturday shopping and eating! Lincoln Park during the day, Tapas for lunch, Michigan Avenue, Francesca's on Chestnut for dinner. Saturday night we spent at Annie's place in the city. It is so adorable! We were able to shower Jen with some fun stuff for her honeymoon. We also enjoyed some yummy cupcakes from Sweet Mandy B's Bakery. Sunday we went to breakfast downtown before heading home. <div><br />

We have a lot going on at the Rhoads' house these days. It seems summer has flown by! I LOVE sunshine and summertime and I could live in Florida. Nick on the other hand loves having a true four seasons. We've tried to make the most of the sunshine this year. We take weekly trips to our neighborhood pool, we've taken Mallie to a local creek, and taken several trips. Here is a list of what we've been up to:<br />

She asked us a while back if we would be willing to take her and we jumped at the chance. Nick was off for SB and I took the week of work. We spent 4 days in Denver and it was a blast. His sister was super sweet and flexible about letting us do lots of fun things like see our friends, go skiing, and tour Denver. We enjoyed our time with her. It was fun to get away for a few days and experience all (some) Colorado has to offer. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div>Skiing @ Breckenridge. Let's just say a lot has changed in the past 8 years. I haven't been skiing since my junior year of HS. I am not quite as brave or as in shape as I used to be. However, it sure was fun to experience skiing with Nick. Check out his face in this first pic. That was his reaction when I told him I was as good at skiing as he is at snow boarding. :)<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_M0ogrlvo3zBYn82n63zNcQy-MSqvsidUtTQKi_juKxHhHIbgSANzVlAnplPOLxoW1w2MVQu2Cb_FKI8G00K2Ij6KyP0NluMmKzhOFH1orM25qWWITXYaju8hn1f5HJQm8MNBW9fYBXcN/s1600/IMG_0567.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_M0ogrlvo3zBYn82n63zNcQy-MSqvsidUtTQKi_juKxHhHIbgSANzVlAnplPOLxoW1w2MVQu2Cb_FKI8G00K2Ij6KyP0NluMmKzhOFH1orM25qWWITXYaju8hn1f5HJQm8MNBW9fYBXcN/s320/IMG_0567.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5590412997027761746" style="display: block; After seeing the last two posts I thought I should give an update on the humans in our family. :)<div><br /></div><div>Nick and I have an exciting week ahead. We are heading to Denver, with his sister, for a college visit on Saturday. Then we are heading to the Buffalo River with my parents on Wednesday. They rented a cabin and invited us to tag along. I am so excited for a FULL week off work. It's been over a year and a half since I have taken that much time off. Woohoo! </div><div><br /></div><div>Nick is currently in grad school to become a high school business teacher. He is student teaching at a local high school and enjoying it for the most part. He is ready to be paid for teaching. :) I am so proud of him for following the Lord's will for his life. It has not been easy and he has been faithful! </div><div><br /></div><div>I am still working at Loving Choices and enjoying every day of it. It has been the most challenging time of my life, but the Lord has used my job to teach me so much. I know that I know that I know God will always provide. His ways are not always our ways, but they are always the most blessed! I've also realized that Jesus is our ONLY hope. I know that is something I have known for a while, but I actually realize it now. I see so many heart breaking situations and cycles of "junk" in the lives of our LC clients. I realize that Jesus is our only hope. We must look beyond this life and realize there is so much more! </div><div><br /></div><div>Another way Nick and I have been blessed is through our community group. We are living life with these people on a weekly basis and it is so incredible. We've grown to know and love each person in our group. We know the Lord is using this group to grow and guide us! </div><div><br /></div><div>here is a pic of our gang (friends and community group minus a few) on New Year's Eve: </div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDLf89CUJnQlseAvS2BqY0O4nJSPt-IvsgiTKdlLdSlDWMcZATk2yLicjemKSGmX4ydyZEGHwxvCrX8FmaJRYI8DSKsvjdIfy4Lh4FoJXv9H9G41hLZNjxM9f3TvO9NufWgTX0bjZYC6nV/s320/IMG_0534.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584880031657012034" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><br /></span></div>Caroline and Nickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03976860233281964323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5876724883772939382.post-57964235368604656762011-03-16T19:27:00.000-07:002011-03-16T19:56:55.334-07:00Life as we know it...<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFZgIBhpNvxLiTDi5pjjc1v_cOJatVcW9_rTKU1ExDenyHgK30DZvtzs3dJZNnseqRCNUE1KrCjEVyVWQGrHLqSGCXxN5yroAFe7J-enxLfGnjne1KKThlZSDNXOGkXXmFkPyITsQaWoZ9/s1600/photo-3.jpg"></a><blockquote></blockquote>Well life has seemed a bit crazy lately. I know Nick and I aren't parents, but we do have a 9 month old dog that we are responsible for parenting. She is usually pretty low maintenance, but that wasn't the case last week. <div><br /></div><div>Laundry on the floor in our room + mallie enjoying the taste of laundry = Mallie ate two socks!</div><div>Yes, our crazy dog ate two socks which led to one trip to the ER vet then a trip to our normal vet. Mallie ended up having exploratory surgery to remove the socks. It was a huge ordeal. I was so torn...we had to take care of it, but we couldn't really afford it, but we were responsible for her, but we didn't have the money. You get the picture! </div><div><br /></div><div>However, we survived and Mallie is almost back to normal. We did get her "fixed" during the surgery. So no pups at the Rhoads' house. Thank goodness! </div><div><br /></div><div>Here are some pics of Mallie.</div><div><br /></div><div>Right before surgery:</div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Ce679urv12NqMuLS_G_MZi2r2AwkFjYlcKru5847YUDdZoCymkjDlELBTz-jibc3TTND55dnetnrREaV8zAtaKp08GW9v9V1BQtWxJVEtNDiq4Kn-26HoauE6ZiL10NWpjcxmjMiDSiK/s1600/photo-2.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Ce679urv12NqMuLS_G_MZi2r2AwkFjYlcKru5847YUDdZoCymkjDlELBTz-jibc3TTND55dnetnrREaV8zAtaKp08GW9v9V1BQtWxJVEtNDiq4Kn-26HoauE6ZiL10NWpjcxmjMiDSiK/s320/photo-2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584873969713531586" /></a></div><div>Camping out in the living room to keep an eye on her:</div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFZgIBhpNvxLiTDi5pjjc1v_cOJatVcW9_rTKU1ExDenyHgK30DZvtzs3dJZNnseqRCNUE1KrCjEVyVWQGrHLqSGCXxN5yroAFe7J-enxLfGnjne1KKThlZSDNXOGkXXmFkPyITsQaWoZ9/s320/photo-3.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584876715860408994" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; ">I know that Mallie is just a dog...trust me. It usually only happens when I find some spare time and I am on my personal laptop (with my pics on it).<div><br /></div><div>However, we do have some old news to share with you! We got a puppy! Mallie Mae Rhoads joined our family in July. Nick read a book and he was very particular that we bring our puppy home on day 49. Somehow, this actually happened. We went to see Mallie on a Wednesday and that next Sunday I talked Nick into going back to get her.</div><div><br /></div><div>Mallie is a female black lab. She is soooo sweet, but she is crazy like a typical lab puppy. We picked her out because she was calm and slept all the time. Let's just say that has changed big time.</div><div><br /></div><div>We LOVE her. It has been so fun to watch her grow, walk her almost everyday, and just have the excitement of a puppy. We've had our frustrating experiences, but we7 just keep thinking of ourselves as parents. The joy is far better than the frustrations.</div><div><br /></div><div>I'll leave you with some pics of our sweet Mallie.</div><div><br /></div><div>7 weeks</div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNY1G992EoE0c9HsBZohZMdXViTSOl5TmPXTBgaSwPO2OQu1GJSYzqb_4SBb9T0MXWkDgzr-WeQ0nXtJcuM1pVseqUt1kSF7E3G-2fh4AeU0uk088A7RP-1qig1XJk5H0aWTT9Ctb-J7ku/s320/IMG_0329.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523212384599759618" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">18 weeks</div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfduDMFgAvOuaHfUcbhfkVOi-46vTNjUSbLbtHE7gIPXT-C7ZYCqdKRB_qafCArxSAoCXpct_9Sg8k2cjOv9rWDwN6nUXsb8GL3kQcVoTsOgIGpMEWW_0Kf0jm-GaFo0Aac530VwFMxrdw/s320/IMG_0436.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523212389450759746" /><div style="text-align: center;"> Can you believe how much she has grown? Nick has quite a few siblings (2 full, 3 half, and 3 step). One of his half brothers got married in San Diego over Memorial Day weekend. In the program for the wedding under Nick's name it said "brother from another mother." At first I wasn't sure what to think and then I just embraced and laughed. :)</div><div><div><br /></div><div>This was my first trip to California and it was fabulous. Now back to the title...I want to tell you about my friend, Miss Jennifer L. Walker. She is many things...a few of which are...friend, sister, daughter, aunt, girlfriend, teacher, and a business owner. Yep, that's right at age 23 she is the owner of her own business and a full time teacher. I must say that anything she does, she does with excellence. So it only makes sense that she is an excellent teacher and a fabulous business owner. <br /><br />Speaking of business let's get down to it. She owns a company called Nesting and it's a cute little home studio featuring products from Dabney Lee. The items she has for sale are SUPER CUTE! They are perfect for hostess gifts, baby gifts, or a special treat for yourself. <br /><br />Head on over to her <a href="http://nestingnwa.blogspot.com">blog</a> and check it out. She even interviewed Dabney Lee on her blog! I have a party coming up on July 21st. Please shoot me a message if you're interested in coming to see the fun stuff in person.Caroline and Nickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03976860233281964323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5876724883772939382.post-71295702356728433592010-02-19T13:21:00.000-08:002010-02-19T13:48:04.632-08:00Loving Choices Pregnancy Centers<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXQyBRb8vt0z4sbqdq4hiGJmNb4a9k6lzN-ZAKz-9fkAtKjRLtC0RoVfDyarYWFtg8kB3oqZy_wVBRjqlr48WSI5YLFYyniZKlv6dZrp5BMmtkfs-Tvny_QHL5uXdTStJZau1_N0CDxis0/s1600-h/NEW+2008-2009+Logo+(2).jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 156px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXQyBRb8vt0z4sbqdq4hiGJmNb4a9k6lzN-ZAKz-9fkAtKjRLtC0RoVfDyarYWFtg8kB3oqZy_wVBRjqlr48WSI5YLFYyniZKlv6dZrp5BMmtkfs-Tvny_QHL5uXdTStJZau1_N0CDxis0/s320/NEW+2008-2009+Logo+(2).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5440070810170400002" /></a><br /><br /><br />If you know me, you know that I work for Loving Choices Pregnancy Centers of Northwest Arkansas. Loving Choices is a Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC) which means we help women (and their boyfriends or families) that might be experiencing a crisis or unplanned pregnancy. <br /><br />Loving Choices started about 23 years ago in Rogers and we now have a location in FAyetteville too. We are a non-profit organization funded by individuals and local churches. We have a great list of services that we offer to these women during their time of crisis. EVERYTHING we do is FREE and CONFIDENTIAL!<br /><br />We serve women through options counseling, pregnancy testing, limited ubsterical ultrasounds, STD/STI testing, long term mentoring and parenting classes, and post abortion support. <br /><br />The majority of our clients are between 15-25 and they come to us because they don't know what to do about their unplanned pregnancy. <br /><br />Loving Choices is here to serve women and make sure they know they DO HAVE OPTIONS and there is hope. I know most of clients come to us feeling hopeless and they do not know what to do. We are able to counsel them on their options and provide them with services and support to help them through this scary time.<br /><br />Our hope is that clients will choose LIFE for their baby through parenting or making an adoption plan. If a client chooses to parent or make an adoption plan we encourage them to plug into our Care Center. The Care Center is and incentive program that uses a curriculum called Earn While You Learn. Each week clients come to meet with a volunteer counselor to learn parenting skills or prenatal care, for bible studies, or to just talk about life. Each week they earn mommy bucks (fake $) to spend in our Mommy boutique where they can purchase most of their baby needs. <br /><br />Loving Choices does not offer or refer for abortions, but we are Pro-Woman. If a client does choose abortion we will lover her still. We will also provide her with post-abortion counseling if she is interested. <br /><br />Our ULTIMATE goal is to love women and educate them so they can make an informed decision about their pregnancy. <br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdcKN8wMxf10oY0hLV0Z3tJwTrkEkVzuOyWQE6m4GtjwKv83kTesk2Dr0qHkkQMpemtNQL4-ZTRMl-Lu5rKIQ7-yz0eqzay8vFs092GNZMvviYh6mrCVB_r7NLT6dIIo7yoZOdi8wQ_dKN/s1600-h/LovingChoicesAd.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 192px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdcKN8wMxf10oY0hLV0Z3tJwTrkEkVzuOyWQE6m4GtjwKv83kTesk2Dr0qHkkQMpemtNQL4-ZTRMl-Lu5rKIQ7-yz0eqzay8vFs092GNZMvviYh6mrCVB_r7NLT6dIIo7yoZOdi8wQ_dKN/s320/LovingChoicesAd.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5440071074442465106" /></a><br /><br />Check out Claire's Story <a href="http://supportlc.blogspot.com/2009/11/view-safe-place-claires-story.html">here</a>. <br /><br />If you know of someone in NWA that might need the services of Loving Choices please visit www.lovingchoices.org. <br /><br />If you are interested in supporting Loving Choices in any way please visit www.supportLC.org to find ways to get involved. <br /><br />I hope the information provided above will give you all a better understanding of Loving Choices. I REALLY wanted to go visit Mikki and Sean and we just couldn't find decent airfare. After praying about it two nights in a row I got an email from a friend who knew we were looking. We were able to order tickets for the exact weekend we wanted to go for super cheap. We flew out Sat. Morning and came home Monday night. <br /><br />Mikki and I had so much fun playing in Wheaton on Saturday while the boys watched football. Sean cooked a delicious mean for us on Saturday night. Sunday we headed into the city and enjoyed the GREAT weather...it was so mild. We enjoyed a boat tour of the city and just strolling along the Magnificant Mile. We also enjoyed some Chicago style pizza. <br /><br />Monday Nick and I ventured into the city alone and checked our bags at Macy's so we could enjoy walking around the city. After a full day of walking we took the blue line right into the airport. It was great! <br /><br />We had a wonderful time traveling and seeing friends. Mikki and Sean were wonderful hosts. We can't wait to go back! <br /><br /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikQOVrOKxl8Tzot-omVa_TkYVqizvR_wKZKVVIQ7_XJT4W5PiVbEDB_pmIRbKJZINJs0JUvmNG8I442U5oUJSlx4qpnxasWe7DAfhVQSwdNBA7qQvJwyrnP0Dp_BYQreAH6yCiA6QuDOYO/s320/DSC01428.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430451656338349330" /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLGH50J5evpU7xGu1ge9guDky8jYfOGkYAeIfnnAvrX_LajJDhMR_DEN8SMIdP2QNeROEqjbs5TaHQBSwZ3o8b1balwkgBw_BGa_RTxSpEDsfe46UbHpEUworLxjCMefj_JxHLjELTkzIa/s1600-h/DSC01438.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLGH50J5evpU7xGu1ge9guDky8jYfOGkYAeIfnnAvrX_LajJDhMR_DEN8SMIdP2QNeROEqjbs5TaHQBSwZ3o8b1balwkgBw_BGa_RTxSpEDsfe46UbHpEUworLxjCMefj_JxHLjELTkzIa/s320/DSC01438.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430451647822568178" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7OypYgot569PaaJ4juCDCIGbrhONQtay3PE8Wzbm5LAZWCLas-0b4zWXirb3Kyz-P6zhyTBFH-Hf4JeB1X8VVbYvt6EXmp-DQQWQcF8vgJMqGhy7DxIxbW08AQ5EYzOP2DK5I4qdL7QDg/s1600-h/DSC01440_2.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7OypYgot569PaaJ4juCDCIGbrhONQtay3PE8Wzbm5LAZWCLas-0b4zWXirb3Kyz-P6zhyTBFH-Hf4JeB1X8VVbYvt6EXmp-DQQWQcF8vgJMqGhy7DxIxbW08AQ5EYzOP2DK5I4qdL7QDg/s320/DSC01440_2.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430451645278863970" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiroMVJySes4B2ba8HMDbjakrt7mxoh2X-6nJsFN-kfFnQ4d9ZcoFbvhvgIAd5Vu9Sw9EGXxw4a2CGKD2ISlXh_B3HwGspwmU3OvSbynJRDooSreGNG-Rq6LuBSOJMgf-xrAx4ay7jIrG-m/s1600-h/DSC01391.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiroMVJySes4B2ba8HMDbjakrt7mxoh2X-6nJsFN-kfFnQ4d9ZcoFbvhvgIAd5Vu9Sw9EGXxw4a2CGKD2ISlXh_B3HwGspwmU3OvSbynJRDooSreGNG-Rq6LuBSOJMgf-xrAx4ay7jIrG-m/s320/DSC01391.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430451630406227330" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVoptrIC6pO0sH3d7ur7ch4af33vHSnpW2USPCWrfhABF6LZKf7S8UxVQIs6jlis06I7Ni0KjUvlkTHSwxCQNZwt8C5BTD_gpWcIM1PkykdTVh_m_hFsjZX5MKCsjqvYdNc6RpEhr1yN0P/s1600-h/DSC01384.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVoptrIC6pO0sH3d7ur7ch4af33vHSnpW2USPCWrfhABF6LZKf7S8UxVQIs6jlis06I7Ni0KjUvlkTHSwxCQNZwt8C5BTD_gpWcIM1PkykdTVh_m_hFsjZX5MKCsjqvYdNc6RpEhr1yN0P/s320/DSC01384.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430451623219635314" /></a>Caroline and Nickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03976860233281964323noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5876724883772939382.post-15944751380003619692010-01-24T14:55:00.000-08:002010-01-24T15:07:35.340-08:00ChristmasNick and I spent our 2nd Christmas together with my family in Texarkana this year. It was definitely a treat after missing everyone last year. Dividing holidays can be really challenging and we definitely missed all of his relatives this year. We also missed the white Christmas here in NWA. <br /><br />We did Christmas with our immediate families the week before Christmas. We had fun with both sides just hanging out and spending quality time together. <br /><br />I really wanted to cut back this year and "give more to those in need and less to those who don't need." We were able to do that for the most part. My family decided to just do stocking stuffers, and it turned out to be really fun! <br /><br />My Cousins on Mom's side of the family.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4DJlNMpJcnOsZ_0dLjLcAlHh_ERkj8oNmL6x3eGfr9WtcHC6FYTHpoeEk0j9dBooYvrjt-C1uUK7Bf0A1XhOjC1ebbOvZjBBbm9CiZkYtnWWueeVQ9HG7nS6k4eNNNqgomTBxD50YgBhJ/s1600-h/IMG_0036.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 235px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4DJlNMpJcnOsZ_0dLjLcAlHh_ERkj8oNmL6x3eGfr9WtcHC6FYTHpoeEk0j9dBooYvrjt-C1uUK7Bf0A1XhOjC1ebbOvZjBBbm9CiZkYtnWWueeVQ9HG7nS6k4eNNNqgomTBxD50YgBhJ/s320/IMG_0036.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430446223644004850" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFDXXdoYcQ0n8pidxFoMcpj0EjuEsZWA70bMTgpZFXgfNf_7KkT1vEobtQcqumxtVrMX6qxDyzKlynuxbvNxR6EBHEHdpjyPV2rnHc62dNuVHx_0xBL4xFr3BWib9724WqupaF9z9kvTGk/s1600-h/IMG_0021.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFDXXdoYcQ0n8pidxFoMcpj0EjuEsZWA70bMTgpZFXgfNf_7KkT1vEobtQcqumxtVrMX6qxDyzKlynuxbvNxR6EBHEHdpjyPV2rnHc62dNuVHx_0xBL4xFr3BWib9724WqupaF9z9kvTGk/s320/IMG_0021.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430446213049420322" /></a>Caroline and Nickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03976860233281964323noreply@blogger.com0
